Biography/Description of Work

After studies at the Chicago Art Institute, in 1937 Boring began his career as a ghost drawer for comic books. In 1940, he was hired by National Comics to help draw the Superman strip, created in 1938, first doing the pencil work and eventually becoming the main, credited penciller from the mid-1940s through the 1950s. In 1957 he moved to Ridgefield and continued to draw the daily strips until 1968. After that he ghosted for Prince Valient, strip of Hal Foster who lived in nearby Redding.
