Description of Significance/Historical Narrative
The gambrel-roof Colonial built by John Barrows and known as 'The Corner Cupboard house," was the home of sculptor Gladys Edgerly Bates and her husband, artist Earl Kenneth Bates, both influential members of the Mystic Art Association from c.1930. It is a contributing resource to the Mystic River Historic District.
