With its proximity to the cultural hub of New York City and its quieter suburban and rural landscapes, Connecticut was fertile ground for artists and writers in the period of Modernist movements between 1913 and 1979. Many of these cultural figures are well known through biographical and critical studies. Creative Places seeks to show how place played a significant role in creative work, and how in turn the artists and writers influenced communities in Connecticut.

- Home of pulp fiction writers Frederick Robert Buckley and Thomas Albert Curry, Jr. who were related and who together created over 400 works while residing there; Buckley from 1921 to c. 1931 and Curry from 1931 to 1976. Parts of the house date back to the 18th century with a 19th century remodeling and addition. The outside of the house has changed, but the inside of the house has remained undisturbed since the 19th century. Listed on the State Register 9/2020.
