Description of Significance/Historical Narrative
This early 19th century farmstead was home to author Hugh Lofting from 1920 to 1927. The family named it 'Long Meadow.' Surrounded by his family and pets, which allowed him to get into character when he was working, he penned the "Doctor Dolittle" series of children books here. Listed on the State Register as part of the Creative Places project.
