Description of Significance/Historical Narrative
The Gurleyville Historic District encompasses a 19th century rural village, with a water-powered mill, some dozen houses, cemetery and former schools, stores and parsonage, all now private residences. Much is known about the texture of life in the village from former governor Wilbur Cross, born there in 1862.
