Description of Significance/Historical Narrative
Home of sculptor and teacher William Ashby McCloy from early 1980s to 1994. This home is adjacent to houses that were at various times homes of writer Blanche McCrary Boyd, of poet William Meredith and painter Rita Dawley (to the south). The small cluster along the west bank of the Thames River has been a location for artists, many associated with Connecticut College, from the time of Meredith's purchase in the late 1950s.
